Green Policy at Trefacwn
Trefacwn Green Policy
Our green policy includes using biodegradable cleaning products and washing liquids, recycling plastics, tins, glass and card and also recycling in the re-using sense where-ever possible. We compost leftover food scraps to create less waste going to the landfill and to help nourish our organic garden.
The pure, mineral rich Welsh water is pumped up from our own borehole for bathing and drinking.
In the restoration of the old buildings around the property, we use a lime and hemp straw mix on all interior walls and whenever possible reclaimed and sustainable timber. In redecorating we use organic, non toxic paints and natural finishing oils.
The heating and hot water demands of the Trefacwn barns and Sarah’s cottage are served by our log burning boiler using sustainable timber, and the main house is in the process of being converted to this system. By November 2009 all of our electricity will come from 100% sustainable sources supplied by Ecotricity. This means coming to stay at Trefacwn becomes a low carbon holiday.
